950km/h with a coffee!

Doesn’t it sound insane that you are flying around the globe with 950 km/h and you still have the possibility to drink a cup of coffee?

Well if you compare it over the ground you must imagine one of the fastest sports car available on the market, then when he drives maximum speed. Can you think about how fast this car is driving right now? OK good, now multiply that speed times 3. That’s the speed that you fly when reaching your final level. You don’t feel it, you don’t hear it and still, you fly with such a great speed.

I’m now flying for about 10 years and every time I’m flying and looking at my speed indicator I’m thinking to myself isn’t it great that we can transport at such a speed? Now think about the Concorde aircraft who went Mach 2.0 (twice the speed of sound) The Concorde had a maximum speed of 2.179 km/h and still, they could drink a coffee on board. The people in the back took a nice glass of champagne and before they knew it they landed again.

The fastest manned plane was a Lockheed SR-71 blackbird with a speed of 3,530 km/h (Mach 3.5). But I’m sure they did not have a coffee machine on board, and with this, I found another reason not to fly military fighter jets, they don’t have a toilet and no coffee machine. I have no idea how these people survive in the morning.
